Arguably one of the most famous homes in La Jolla, California has come back on the market. The ultra-contemporary 2007 designed home has seen coverage nationwide for it's unique and cutting edge architectural design located in the prestigious La Jolla Farms neighborhood.
The first time the home came on the market was back in July of 2008, just one year after the home was built for $39 million. This was a huge number for an ocean front in La Jolla but not a crazy number considering other homes in Southern California like the Portebllo house in Corona Del Mar was listed for $75 million. The home was lowered to $32 million and then taken off the market in May of 2009.
The second time the home came on the market things turned out much better. It was listed in September of 2008 for $32 million and then dropped to $28.5 million in June of 2009 and then again to $2.5 million in February of 2010. It once again was lowered to $19,388,000 in April of 2011 which caused it to closed escrow for $14,097,000 two days before Christmas in 2011. A far cry from the original starting price of $39 million but a number that was more realistic for the current real estate market in 2011 which was seeing depressed real estate values at the time.
The home came back on the market in August of 2018 after the current had enjoyed the home for an approximate 7 year span. This time it came back on the market for $30 million dollars. This time around it did not sell and was taken off the market in April of 2019. Which leads us to 3 days ago when it has come back on the market again for $24,995,000. It will be interesting to see what happens this time around as this is a very unique home that will only appeal to a handful of properties that can afford it.
